Saving Energy at Home
Using Energy Labels and Ratings
Energy saving products use less energy and therefore cost less to run. The Energy Saving Recommended logo makes the most efficient products instantly recognisable, making it a quick and easy way for you to spot the most energy efficient products on the market, so you save money and help the environment.
Products that carry the Energy Saving Recommended logo all meet strict energy efficiency criteria set by the Energy Saving Trust, which is backed by the British Government.

ENERGY SAVING LOGO?– “Energy Saving Recommended”
The marketplace can be very confusing, with so many products and promotions shouting for your attention. It is often difficult to know which ones to choose. Now, with the arrival of Energy Efficiency Recommended, you will find it easier to make an informed choice.
Remember that although energy efficient appliances may cost a little more to buy, they cost less to run. They will almost always work out cheaper over their lifetime. Also, using less energy reduces carbon dioxide emissions, helping to combat climate change.
The European Union (EU) Energy Label rates appliances from A (the most efficient) to G (the least efficient) and provides additional information such as the capacity of the fridge or freezer and the wash and spin performance of washing machines.
The label must, by law, be shown on all fridges, freezers, fridge freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers, washer dryers, dishwashers, electric ovens and light bulb packaging, so if you can’t see it, ask the retailer.
